Jakob Ebert

Jakob Ebert ( born January 26, 1549 Sprottau; † February 5, 1614 in Frankfurt ( Oder) ) was a German Lutheran theologian and poet.

Ebertus Jacob was a son of Andreas Ebertus. He was rector in Soldin, Schwiebus and Grünberg. Since 1594, he taught as a professor of theology in Frankfurt ( Oder).

Jakob Ebert wrote the hymn "Thou Prince of Peace, Lord Jesus Christ " (EC 422), which appeared in 1601 with the melody of Bartholomew Gesius and Dieterich Buxtehude ( BuxW 20 and 21) and Johann Sebastian Bach (Du Prince of Peace, Lord Jesus Christ ) in cantatas was set to music.
