Jakob Frey

Jakob Frey ( born May 13, 1824 in Gontenschwil, † December 30, 1875 in Berne; pseudonyms: J. Reif, F. Kuhn, F. Imhoof, JA ) was a Swiss writer.

Life

Jacob Frey studied in Tübingen, Munich and Zurich Philology and Philosophy, edited by 1851 in Aarau Swiss messenger and was elected by his community in the Grand Council and the same with the secretary. As he could the civil service abgewinnen no taste, he moved in 1856 to Bern, where he took over the editorship of the Berner Zeitung, in 1861 and 1868 again to Basel to Aarau.

As a novelist Frey has developed no great fertility; but his achievements in this area are among the pearls of Swiss literature. His son Adolf Frey (1855-1920) published after the death of his father other previously unpublished writings, and a biography.
