The Jakobselva ( Northern Sami: Ánnejohka, Finnish Annijoki ) is a river in the municipalities Vadsø and Nesseby in Finnmark county in northern Norway. The river is also called Vestre Jakobselva ( Vestre = German "Western " ) for the differentiation of the river of the same name on the Norwegian - Russian border. The river has its origin in the center of the Varanger Peninsula. It flows in a southerly direction and empties at the place Vestre Jakobselv - 17 km west of Vadsø - in the Varanger Fjord. The river runs in parts in Varangerhalvoya National Park.

Fauna

The river is a popular river for salmon fishing. Salmon can migrate upriver 20-30 km.
