Jalaur (Hindi: जालौर, Jālaur; anglicized Jalore ) is a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is the capital of the district of the same and has about 45,000 inhabitants ( 2001 census ).

Geography

Jalaur is on average at an altitude of 178 meters. The city is located 121 km south of Jodhpur.

History

In ancient times Jalaur / Jalore was known as Jabalipura - named after a saint.
