Jamal Mashburn

Jamal Mashburn ( born November 29, 1972 in New York City, New York ) is a retired American professional basketball player.

NBA

Earlier in his career he was a member along with Jason Kidd and Jim Jackson to the playful cornerstones of the Dallas Mavericks. After his first year as a pro Mashburn was appointed to the NBA All- Rookie First Team in 1994. In his second year as a pro, he scored an average of 24.1 points per game and was one of the most up and coming young stars in the league. He was the youngest player ever to break the 50 -point mark. Meanwhile, Brandon Jennings leads to this category. Due to a serious injury he graduated in the 1995-96 season, only 18 games.

In 1997 he was transferred to the Miami Heat. Here he spent at the side of Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway three years before in 2000 he was traded in exchange for Eddie Jones to the Charlotte Hornets.

The Hornets Mashburn flourished once more to right and scored regularly in the four seasons for the Hornets over 20 points per game. In 2003 he was invited to the NBA All- Star Game. At the end of his career Mashburn was transferred in exchange for Glenn Robinson to the Philadelphia 76ers, but ended shortly after the transfer of his career, due to chronic knee problems.
