James Bannatyne

James Bannatyne (* June 30, 1975 in Lower Hutt ) is a New Zealand football goalkeeper, who is active in the Team Wellington since 2006 and since 2001 in the New Zealand national football team plays. He won with the selection of his home country the OFC Nations Cup in 2002, when he came on in the 58th minute for Jason Batty.

Career

1988-1997 Bannatyne played at an amateur club based in Petone, a suburb of his birthplace Lower Hutt in New Zealand. After nine years, he moved to the Miramar Rangers from a suburb of Wellington. There he played until 2001, and signed in the summer of this year a contract with the Football Kingz from Auckland. 2002 was a brief engagement at the Miramar Rangers, then he played again for the Football Kingz. 2005 Bannatyne joined to Canterbury United, since the summer of 2006, he plays for Team Wellington. A stir he made in February 2009 when he received a free kick in the match against Canterbury United 15 feet behind the center line and this was transformed directly into the goal.

For the national team of his country Bannatyne stood between 2001 and 2002 three times in the gate, 2002, he won the OFC Nations Cup. He was nominated for both the Confederations Cup in 2009 and for the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa as the third goalkeeper in the New Zealand team, but was not at the tournaments still in the qualification for the application.
