James Bobin

James Bobin (* in Hampshire, England ) is a British film director, television producer and screenwriter.

Life and career

James Bobin was born in Hampshire and grew up in Titchfield, near Fareham, on. He attended Titchfield Primary School and Portsmouth Grammar School. His father, David Bobin, works as a broadcaster with the TV channel Sky Sports. In 1995 he played the title role in the BBC Two television series Modern Times: Fatmates.

Bobin is mainly for his work on the television series The 11 O'Clock Show and Da Ali G Show known. He was involved in the conception of the characters Ali G, Borat from the film and from the film Brüno. In the years 2003 and 2004, he wrote the screenplays and directed all 12 episodes of the second and third season of the television show Da Ali G Show, which aired on the cable channel HBO. He then devised for the HBO comedy series Flight of the Conchords, which ran from 2007 to 2009 on this one. In the series he was involved as an executive producer and directed self- eleven episodes.

His feature film debut as a director, The Muppets, a musical comedy written by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, received mostly positive reviews. Also in the 2014 published sequel, Muppets Most Wanted, he was the director.

In July 2007 Bobin one daughter.

Awards and nominations

For his work on the Da Ali G Show and Flight of the Conchords, he was in 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2009, nominated for eleven Emmy Awards and 2008 for three WGA Awards.

In 2000, he received a Nominierunge for the BAFTA Award for Best Comedie television series for The 11 O'Clock Show. 2012 and 2013 he was nominated for The Muppets for another BAFTA Awaward and for a British Academy Children's Award.
