James Ehnes

James Ehnes ( born January 27, 1976 in Brandon, Manitoba ) is a Canadian violinist.

Biography

James Ehnes, son of lecturing at the Brandon University School of Music trumpeter Alan Ehnes, began his musical training on the violin four years old. At age nine, he became a student of the renowned Canadian violinist Francis Chaplin. 1987, at the age of eleven, he was by winning the first place at the Canadian Music Competition in stringed instruments for the first time known to a wider audience. The following year, he also won the first prize in the same category at the Canadian Music Festival, and indeed the youngest of all time.

His actual career as a concert violinist, he struck thirteen years when he accompanied by the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal occurred. Over the years he has won numerous awards and studied at the Meadowmount School of Music, and from 1993 at the Juilliard School, where he graduated in 1997 later.

In October 2005, he was provided by the Branton University with an honorary doctorate and recorded as the youngest ever elected member of the Royal Society of Canada in July 2007. He plays the Stradivarius " Marsick " of 1715, which originates from the Fulton Collection.

Currently, James Ehnes lives with his wife Kate in Bradenton, Florida.

Critics and various newspapers James Ehnes received very positive feedback due to his virtuoso playing. The Globe and Mail called him " Jascha Heifetz of our day ". The London Times wrote in March 2009:
