James H. Pomerene

James Herbert Pomerene ( born June 22, 1920 in Yonkers, New York, † December 7, 2008 in Chappaqua, New York) was an American computer engineer.

Pomerene made ​​1942 his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at Northwestern University. He then worked with John von Neumann 's computer project (IAS Computer ) at the Institute for Advanced Study. 1951 to 1956 he was chief engineer there. After that he went to IBM where he worked on the development of computer Harvest, an early supercomputer for the U.S. government.
