James J. Braddock

James Walter ( " Jim J. " ) Braddock ( born June 7, 1905 in New York, NY, † November 29, 1974 in North Bergen, New Jersey ) was an American professional boxer.

The Irish -born Braddock, who had tried his hand at various occupations from 1919, 1923 and 1926 amateur boxer professional boxer. Having previously the majority of his fights in the light heavyweight division by KO had won, he lost a 1929 championship fight at light heavyweight against the counter- boxer Tommy Loughran high on points. He injured his hand, which for years not healed properly.

Schmeling had qualified for the title fight by his knockout win over Joe Louis on June 19, 1936. Through a deal with Louis ' management, Braddock secured 10% of all Louis Exchanges from 1937. In his last fight he beat the Welsh former world title challenger Tommy Farr.
