James "J.T." Taylor

James " JT " Taylor ( born August 12, 1953 in Laurens, South Carolina) is an American R & B singer and former lead singer of Kool & The Gang.

Before his career was Taylor teacher and amateur nightclub singer. At the age of 13 years, he and his friends her own band. In 1978 he came to Kool & The gang was founded in 1979 and lead singer of the band.

Together they recorded 1979 album Ladies' Night on. Taylor's lead singing helped the singles Too Hot and Ladies' Night to gold or platinum. The style of the group changes to popular music was initiated from producer Eumir Deodato. He produced between 1979 and 1982, starting with Ladies' Night, a series of four platinum and gold albums, which can be considered as one of the greatest successes of her career. With the help of Deodato was the next album Celebrate! another great success. 1988 separated Taylor from Kool & The Gang.

After Taylor was at MCA under contract, he began his solo career in 1989 and released his debut album, Master of the Game. All I Want Is Forever, a duet with soul singer Regina Belle, became a hit. Taylor released his second solo album, Feel the Need, 1991, two songs from it, Long Hot Summer Night and Heart to Heart ( duet with Stephanie Mills ), were minor successes. In addition, he published Baby I'm Back. It was followed by two more solo albums, the last in 2000, entitled A Brand New Me in late 2008, the single winner, a tribute to the then President -elect Barack Obama appeared.

The mid-1990s, Taylor had his debut as an actor in the films The Mambo Kings and Raisin. In 1995, he briefly returned to Kool & The Gang.
