James Kwast

Jacob James Kwast ( born November 23, 1852 in Nijkerk ( the Netherlands); † October 31, 1927 in Berlin) was a Dutch- German pianist and music teacher.

James Kwast was a teacher of piano at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt am Main and later at the Stern Conservatory and 1902-1905 on Klindworth - Scharwenka Conservatory in Berlin.

He was with Tony Hiller, a daughter of the composer Ferdinand Hiller, married in first marriage. Kwast 's daughter Mimi Kwast (1879-1926) married in 1899 the composer Hans Pfitzner, who had been from 1886 to 1890, a student of James Kwast at the Frankfurt Conservatory. James Kwast married his second wife, the pianist and Reger student Frieda Hodapp ( 1880-1949 ).

He was wearing the Order of Arts and Sciences of Mecklenburg -Strelitz.
