James L. Nelligan

James Leo Nelligan (* February 14, 1929 in Wilkes -Barre, Pennsylvania ) is a former American politician. Between 1981 and 1983 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

James Nelligan attended the public schools of his native land and from then until 1946, the Coughlin High School, also in Wilkes-Barre. In 1951 he graduated from the local King 's College. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as an accountant. Between 1951 and 1967 he worked for the Government Accountability Office in Washington DC worked, from 1967 to 1970 then for Congress Committee Committee on Government Operations. After that, he was employed between 1970-1973 at the federal agency 's Office of Economic Opportunity. Then he was in the service of the General Services Administration until 1975. He then worked until 1979 for Congress Subcommittee Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce.

Politically Nelligan was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1980 he was elected the eleventh electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he succeeded the Democrats Ray Musto on January 3, 1981. Since he has not been confirmed in 1982, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1983.
