James Martin Hayes

James Martin Hayes ( born May 27, 1924 in Halifax ) is Archbishop Emeritus of Halifax and participants of the last session of the Second Vatican Council.

Life

James Martin Hayes received on 15 June 1947, and was ordained priest incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Halifax.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on February 5, 1965 Titular Bishop of Reperi and Auxiliary Bishop of Halifax. The Apostolic Delegate in Canada Sergio Pignedoli consecrated him on April 20th of that year the bishop; Co-consecrators were LEMENAGER Albert, Bishop of Yarmouth, and Alfred Bertram Leverman, Bishop of Saint John, New Brunswick.

On 22 June 1967 he was appointed Archbishop of Halifax and entered November 6, 1990 from his office.
