James Wapakhabulo

James Wapakhabulo ( born March 23, 1945 † 27 March 2004) was a Ugandan politician.

Life

Wapakhabulo studied law at the University of East Africa. He then worked at the East African Community, until it collapsed in 1977. In the same year he went as a lawyer to Papua New Guinea. He remained until 1986, lawyer and then became politically active. He engaged now in the National Resistance Movement of Yoweri Museveni and was 1994/1995 Chair of the Constituent Assembly. He was Speaker of the Parliament, which he remained until 1998, 1996. After three years as an ordinary member of parliament in 2001 he was second deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Uganda. This office he retained until his death in 2004.

He is the recipient of Nalubaale Medal for his contributions during the civil war of the NRA against Milton Obote.
