James Younger, 5th Viscount Younger of Leckie

James Edward George Younger, 5th Viscount Younger of Leckie ( born November 11, 1955 in Edinburgh ) is a British peer and politician ( Conservative Party ).

Life and career

Younger was the son of George Younger, 4th Viscount Younger of Leckie and Diana Tuck born in 1955 in Edinburgh. He has three siblings. He attended the University of St Andrews.

Younger was from 1979 to 1984 Head of Human Resources ( Personnel Manager ) by Coats Patons plc. He was a consultant (Consultant ) at Angela Mortimer plc from 1984 to 1986 and from 1986 to 1992 in Stephens Consultancies. From 1992 to 1994 he was Director of McInnes Younger. In 1994, he was Director of Human Resources ( HR Director ) at UBS and held this office until 2004. From 2004 to 2007 he was director of Culliford Edmunds. Since 2007, Younger is a consultant at Eban Ltd..

In 1993 he was a member of the Association of MBAs. He became a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing ( MCIM ) 1993.

Since 2006 he has been Chairman ( Chair ) of the Buckingham Conservative Constituency Association and a member of the Association of Conservative Peers. He is also a member of the Royal Company of Archers. He is president of the Kate Kennedy Club Life Members' Association in St Andrews ( Fife ) and member of the Trusteeship Council ( trustee ) of the Kate Kennedy Club Trust in St Andrews ( Fife ). Younger is also director of the Highland Society of London and President at Globe Run. Younger is further Honorary Vice- President ( Honororay Vice President ) of the University of St Andrews Alumni Club London.

In 2003, after his father's death, he inherited the title of Viscount Younger of Leckie and the baronet Younger of Leckie.

Membership in the House of Lords

On June 23, 2010 was officially announced in the House of Lords ruled that Younger had won the by-election ( By-election ) of the Hereditary Peers, the 14th Earl of Northesk was by the death of David Carnegie, become necessary in March 2010.

Youngers membership in the House of Lords thus began on 23 June 2010. Official introduction into the House of Lords also took place on June 23. His inaugural speech was the end of August 2010 still. He is one of only three members of the House of Lords, who inherited her title after the House of Lords Act 1999.

Private life

Younger married in 1988 Jennie Veronica Wootton, daughter of William Edward James Wootton. They have three children, a son and two daughters. When his hobbies, he is out sailing, shooting, tennis, cricket, running and DIY.
