Jan Bols

January Bols ( born August 27, 1944 in Hoogeveen, Drenthe ) is a retired Dutch speed skater who mainly live in multi-discipline had its strengths.

At the beginning of the 70s Bols was the third best speed skaters of the Netherlands behind Ard Schenk and Kees Verkerk. In 1971 he was the Dutch league title win and was one of the favorites for the European Championships. Due to a faulty 5000m however, he was disqualified, although he mistakenly ran the outer longer track.

Bols best season was 1972 when he won the third place in both the European and the World Championships. At the Olympic Winter Games in Sapporo, he won the 1500m and fifth in the 10,000 m in fourth place.

After his playing career, he opened a shop in his home instead of Hoogeveen.
