Jan Degenhardt

January Degenhardt ( born July 9, 1962 in Saarbrücken ) is a German lawyer and folk singer. His father is the late 14 November 2011 political poet, singer and DKP activist Franz Josef Degenhardt. His brother Kai Degenhardt, also a lawyer, works as a songwriter and operates a record label.

Life

After studying law in Hamburg from 1983 to 1990 and teaching activities from 1990 to 1993 at the Ernst- Moritz- Arndt- University and the Grone - school in Greifswald Degenhardt settled down in 1992 as an attorney in the Greifswald lawyers house.

In 1999, he released his first album called Move. With the same title, a biography of a GDR citizen after the fall of 2000 he came to the top list of the SFB. In the same year he celebrated at the Dance and Folk Festival in Rudolstadt his stage debut there and took the second place in the German Folk Award behind the band Schandmaul.

After a trip to the idea of the album he released in the summer of 2004, his second album titled votes hinter'm mirror. The title contained on Marathon Berlin reached in December of the same year number 9 in the Best Songs list of the Society for German -language music.

In February 2011, the third album followed called Shameless, for which Degenhardt also translated title of Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Dirk Powell, Paul Millns and Josh Ritter and recorded with Carlos Ramos and Christian Renz. Shameless has been named by the jury of the songs leaderboard CD of the Month in June 2011. In the same month the title Democracy arrived at number 8 of the songs Fame and in July at No. 2 In August 2011, the album was awarded the Prize of the German Record Critics.
