Jan Fryderyk Dobrowolski

January Fryderyk Dobrowolski, as a performer sometimes only January Fryderyk, ( born July 9, 1944) is a Polish pianist and composer. Earlier in his career he played in the classical disciplines, but he soon turned to jazz and light music.

Dobrowolski won the first prize in the competition " Young Musicians " in Kalisz, " Jazz at the Oder" in Wrocław and the "Jeunesse Musical Festival" in Częstochowa. He was first known as the interpreter of Chopin, but then focused on jazz and world music. At the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1972, he joined together with bassist Jacek Bednarek on when Jan Fryderyk Dobrowolski duo. With his style he influenced the development of jazz in Poland in the 1980s. Exceptional ensembles with live recordings with Charlie Mariano on sax and Alberto Alarcon to the castanets were not only a commercial success, but also convinced the critics. He composed and interpreted various music related to driving a car, which was also designed for listening while driving. From Citroën and Opel he was commissioned to compose music for some models which was played in commercials and presentations.
