Jan Hemelrijk

January Hemelrijk ( born May 28, 1918 in Arnhem, † 16 March 2005) was a Dutch mathematician who dealt with Statistics and Professor of Statistics at the University of Amsterdam was.

Hemelrijk in 1950 with David van Dantzig at the University of Amsterdam PhD ( Symmetric tests and other applications of the theory of Neyman and Pearson, Dutch). After that, he was Assistant of van Dantzig at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica in Amsterdam, where he oversaw consulting in statistics (for example, the suggested in the report of the Delta Commission, 1960, Part 3, about flood hazards down ). From 1952 he was professor at the University of Delft and from 1960 as a successor to van Dantzig professor in Amsterdam.

He was editor of Statistica Neerlandica ( Vereniging voor Statistiek s Operationele Research) and held 1969/70, the first statistic in the television series of the Teleac.
