Jan Rudolph Slotemaker de Bruïne

January Rudolph Slotemaker de Bruine ( born May 6, 1869 in Sliedrecht, † May 1, 1941 in Wassenaar ) was a Dutch Reformed theologian and politician ( CHU ).

Life

January Rudolph Slotemaker de Bruine was born on 6 May 1869 in Sliedrecht. Ordained in 1894 as pastor, he served since 1907 in Utrecht. Professor of practical and systematic theology at the university he was in 1916. He sat down for a reorganization of the church constitution of 1816/1852 in the Presbyterian sense a. He also devoted himself to social issues, with a railroad strike in 1903 he realized that the Church holds important social obligations. Since then he has also participated in politics. 1926 used as labor minister, he was in 1933 and 1935 Social Education Minister. On May 1, 1941 de Bruine de Slotemaker died in Wassenaar.
