Jan Rychlík

January Rychlík (* April 27, 1916 in Prague, † January 20, 1964 ) was a Czech composer.

Life

Rychlík attended from 1933 to 1939 the business school in Prague. He then studied at the Conservatory until 1946 when Jaroslav Řídký. During his studies he worked as an entertainment and jazz musicians. He was also a next Jiří Kolář on a circle of writers and artists and joined the poems of Christian Morgenstern as the author 's own literary texts and translator forth.

After the war he became known as a composer of film music and most important representative of Czech contemporary music. In 1961 he was among the founders of the contemporary music ensembles Musica viva Pragensis.
