Jan Tops

Johannes ( "Jan" ) Augustinus Petrus Tops ( born April 5, 1961 in Valkenswaard ) is a former Dutch show jumping and horse traders.


For his country tops denied more than 50 nations Prices, rode at the European Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games.

Jan Tops is one of the most powerful men in the international horse trade. In 2006, he called the Global Champions Tour in life, whose Grand Prix of the individual stages are each doped with at least 285,000 euros.

Today's world-class rider Rolf -Goran Bengtsson, Steve Guerdat and Daniel Deußer rode the beginning of her career at tops.

Olympic games

1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000 started tops in four consecutive Olympics for his native country. In 1992 he won with Top Gun together with Jos Lansink, Piet Raijmakers and Bert Romp team gold at the Olympic Games in Barcelona. With Emile Hendrix instead Bert Romp the team had already won gold at the European Championships in 1991.

In the individual competition at the Games, was established in 1988 with Doreen Seventh, 1992 Top Gun fifth and seventh in 1996 with Top Gun. In 2000, he took with Roofs last time participate in the Olympics.

Private life

With the Canadian show jumper Tani Zeidler he has a daughter born in 1997. From 2002 he was associated with the Australian show jumper Edwina Alexander, the marriage took place on 24 September 2011.
