Jan Wegereef

January Wegereef ( born January 17, 1962 in Rijssen ) is a Dutch football referee.

Wegereef acts as an arbitrator in the Dutch Eredivisie and internationally. His debut in Dutch professional football as hitherto youngest referee, he gave in 1988. September 28, 1995, he whistled his first UEFA Cup match, Ararat Yerevan against Dynamo Moscow.

In the 2002 World Cup, he led the game against Senegal in Uruguay. He showed twelve yellow card, this time a new record at World Cup tournaments, but on the same day by the Spaniard Antonio López Nieto ( 16 cards, two yellow-red, in Cameroon - Germany ) was broken again.
