Janet Neel Cohen, Baroness Cohen of Pimlico

Janet Neel Cohen, Baroness Cohen of Pimlico ( born July 4, 1940) is a British writer, lawyer and Labour peer.

Education and family

The daughter of George Edric Neel and Mary Isabel Budge first attended the South Hampstead High School, a girls' school in London North West. In 1962, she completed her law studies at Newnham College, University of Cambridge with a Bachelor of Arts.

Janet Neel married on December 18, 1971 James Lionel Cohen, the son of Dr. Richard Henry Lionel Cohen. The couple moved his three children in northern England.

Profession

Janet Neel practiced as a lawyer from 1965. After a job in the union construction industry she worked for thirteen years as a government official in the Commerce and Industry Chamber. She led two London restaurants. Between 1994 and 1999 Janet Neel Cohen was a member of the Broadcasting Council at the BBC.

On 3 May 2000 Janet Neel Cohen was appointed a life peer as " Baroness Cohen of Pimlico in the City of Westminster " and sits on the Labour Party as a secular lord in the House of Lords.

Largely under the name Janet Neel Janet Neel Cohen emerged as a crime writer.
