Jani Lane

Jani Lane, actually John Kennedy Oswald, ( born 1 February 1964 in Akron, Ohio; † August 11, 2011 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American rock singer. He was for a long time frontman and principal songwriter of the glam metal band Warrant.

Career

Jani Lane was born John Kennedy Oswald in Akron. He attended Field High School in Mogadore and worked early on as a musician. After he had reached with his first band in Ohio Cyren some regional fame as a drummer, he moved to Florida in 1983. There he adopted the stage name " Jani Lane " and switched from drums to vocals.

1985 Lane moved to Los Angeles and got a year later as a singer of Warrant, where he soon took over the role of the songwriter. There followed a very successful time with several gold and platinum records. In 1993, Lane, the band for the first time, returned the following year, but back again. Due to personal and business differences, it came again in 2004 to phase and after a brief return in January 2008, he returned to the band in September of the year then finally the back.

Lane worked at this time as a solo artist. His first official solo album, Back Down to One was released in June 2003. As a songwriter he stepped away from Warrant approximately entitled " The One That Got Away" in appearance, he for the album Along Came a Spider together with Keri Kelli Alice Cooper wrote. He was also a member of the hard rock project, Saints of the Underground and toured in the summer of 2010 as a replacement for Jack Russell with the band Great White.

On August 11, 2011 Lane, who had already been arrested several times for alcohol related offenses, was discovered at the age of 47 years at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills dead. The cause of death was initially unclear, but was later given as alcohol poisoning.
