JÄnis Rudzutaks
Jan Ernestowitsch Rudzutak (Russian Ян Эрнестович Рудзутак; Latvian Jānis Rudzutaks; * 3 Augustjul / 15 August 1887greg in county Kuldiga, Kurland, Russian Empire, .. † July 29, 1938 ) was a Soviet politician, minister and victim of the Great Terror.
Life
Rudzutak was the son of a family of Latvian agricultural workers. From 1903 he worked in a factory in Riga. Two years later he joined the Latvian Social Democratic Party. Because of his political views, he was arrested in 1907 and sentenced to ten years hard labor. After serving part of his sentence in Riga, he was transferred to the Butyrka prison in Moscow. In the wake of the February Revolution Rudzutak 1917 released from prison.
Suddenly free, he held various positions in the Communist Party and the trade unions. ( Party name see CPSU ) was appointed in December 1921, the veteran Bolshevik was in the 13 -member Organization Office of the Russian Communist Party. He worked from 1921 to 1924 as Chairman of the Central Asian Bureau of the Communist Party. In 1923 he was one of the secretaries of the important Central Committee of the Party. 1923-1926 he was after the XII. Congress first candidate of the Politburo. 23 July 1926 to 4 February 1932, he was a full member, and from February 1934 until his arrest in May 1937 candidate again this body.
1924 to 1930 he was People's Commissar of Transport and at the same time also Deputy Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR and Chairman of the Council of Labor and Defense.
1938 Rudzutak and Kossior ( Politburo member 1930-1938 ), Chubar ( Politburo member 1935-1938 ), Postyshev and oak (both until 1938 candidates of the Politburo ) and the majority of the members of the Central Committee (CC ) of the CPSU during the Stalinist clean shot.
1956 Khrushchev declared this in his secret speech at the Twentieth. Congress: "Comrade Rudzutak has forced confessions from him fully revoked. He ... was not even summoned to the Politburo of the Central Committee. Within 20 minutes, the judgment ... was like, and he was shot. "
In the Memoirs of Anastas Mikoyan is described that Lenin had considered Rudzutak to elect the General Secretary of the Communist Party instead of Stalin. Other sources do not confirm this, however.
