János Fürst

János Fürst [ja ː noʃ fyrst ] ( born August 8, 1935 in Budapest, † January 3, 2007 in Paris) was a Hungarian violinist and conductor.

Prince studied violin at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and later at the Paris Conservatoire. He then worked as concertmaster. In 1963 he founded the Irish Chamber Orchestra, 1966, he was concertmaster of the Ulster Orchestra. Later he worked as a conductor in Malmo, Aalborg, Dublin, Marseille and the city orchestra Winterthur. To which he was principal guest conductor of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 1972 he made ​​his conducting debut in London, where he has since conducted all the major orchestras. In addition, he has appeared in numerous European cities, in Israel, the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. He also spent nine years as music director of the opera in Marseille and has performed at the English National Opera, Scottish Opera and the Kungliga operands Stockholm. Since 1997 he was a professor of conducting at the Conservatoire de Paris.
