Janov nad Nisou

Janov nad Nisou, until 1947 Honsberk, ( German Johannes Berg) is a municipality in Okres Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic. Covering an area of ​​about 147 km ² live in the village and its districts 1,200 inhabitants. The place is now a popular tourist destination of the Jizera Mountains. Up to 18,000 visitors are counted each year.

History

In 1630, a volatile recruit named Johan Wolfgang Reckziegel from Gistej (now Jistebsko ) settled in the present site. In 1680 the first chapel was built (wooden), in 1700 the first church of stone. 1758 the first glassworks is mentioned. In 1772 the plague broke over the place start. 1811, the Church of John the Baptist was inaugurated. In 1849, the first textile factory was put into operation, ten years later, eleven glass cutting shops and dealers were added. From the mid-19th century bilderte Johannesberg a municipality in the district court Jablonec nad Nisou. In 1869, 2,357 people lived in the village.

Besides a large glass factory there were about 80 companies in the glass house jewelry industry, a paper factory and a spinning drop. 1887 on the mountain Slovanka ( Seibthübel ) was built a cast- iron lookout tower at Hrabetice (Graf village).

In 1920, the City as the city with 3,200 citizens at that time was charged.

In the years 1946 to 1947 almost all German inhabitants were expelled. Many found in Neugablonz a new home.

The place witnessed many harsh winters. In part, the snow was up to June.

From 2nd April 1900 to December 1964 Johannesberg was associated with Gablonz by an electric tram to Rychnov ( Reichenau ).

The village Janov nad Nisou consists of the districts Hrabetice (Graf village), Hraničná ( Gränzendorf ), Janov nad Nisou ( Johannes Berg) and Loučná nad Nisou ( Lautschnei, also: Lautschney ). Basic settlement units are Hraničná, Janov nad Nisou and Loučná nad Nisou.

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Hraničná nad Nisou, Janov nad Nisou and Loučná nad Nisou.

Attractions

Destinations are the 858 m high Královka ( king height), the Slovanka viewpoint, the dam Josefodolská and the former glassworks Kristiánov ( Christ Anstal ).
