Japhet Uutoni

Japheth Uutoni ( born June 29, 1979, and Japheth Uutoni ) is an amateur boxer from Namibia.

Career

In 2005 he was Namibian Sportsman of the Year and won the following year the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games by defeating the Englishman Darren Langley by points ( 37:24 ) in the light flyweight ( up to 48 kg). In the same weight class, he also qualified for the 2008 Olympics by the gold medal at the first African qualifying tournament for the 2008 Olympic Games. In the second Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, he had to be in the finals the Cameroonian Thomas Essomba just by points beaten.
