Jared Sparks

Jared Sparks ( born May 10, 1789 in Willington in the U.S. state of Connecticut, † March 14, 1866 in Cambridge ) was an American historian.

Life

Sparks was for a time a preacher Unitarian church in Boston, edited from 1823 to 1830, the quarterly magazine " North American Review ", in 1839 Professor of History at Harvard University in Cambridge (Massachusetts ) and was its president from 1849 to 1852. He died on 14 March 1866 in Cambridge and was held at the Mount Auburn Cemetery his final resting place.
