Järnforsen

Järnforsen is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of Kalmar County, the historical province of Småland. The place is located in the municipality of Hultsfred.

History

It was the river Emån, which enabled the early industrial development of the town. An important event was the inauguration in 1906 of the railway line Vetlanda - Målilla. The traffic was stopped in 1961, but in 1987 a new route was inaugurated, the Emådalsbanan which the industry within Vetlanda - connects Pauliström - Järnforsen. The trains now not after Järnforsen, the traffic ends in Kvillsfors.

Traces of settlement have been around since 6000 BC The town was first named in 1337 as Öaerithe and since 1355 we find the spelling Järhida. The church, Järeda Kyrka was built in 1771 and stands on the same square where a wooden church stood.

Fröreda Storegård (one kilometers outside ), an old farmhouse, is an architectural monument with unique, hand-painted wallpaper and remarkable facility painting. A few kilometers to the west is Kungsbro where Gustav II Adolf in 1612 held one of his first battles. Those summer Klövdala was burnt by the Danes, but the villagers fled into a nearby cave.

With farmsteads from the 19th century and a well preserved cultural landscape are the villages close Skinnskälla, Högeruda, Slättemossa and Ryd of national interest as cultural monuments.

The mid-1980s, it was found that large amounts of environmental toxin PCB abflossen from Järnsjö at Järnforsen in the Baltic Sea, the source of which was a paper mill upstream. 1993 - 1994 a pilot project was carried out in which the lake with the help of dredgers was redeveloped. The sediment is then deposited west of the now clean lake.

Economy

The place has many companies and many people from the surrounding areas commute to her job in Järnforsen. The village has a grocery store, a flower shop, restaurant and school, gas station and kindergarten. Two swimming holes can be found at Järnsjö and in place. Canoe rentals and boat trips on the Emån is possible ( petrol station and Bed and Breakfast ). Other recreational activities include rock climbing, forest walks.
