Jaroslav Burgr

Jaroslav Burgr ( born March 7, 1906 in Velké Přítočno, Austria - Hungary, † 15 September 1986) was a Czech football player.

Career

Jaroslav Burgr began playing football at the age of seven Kročehlavy, now a district of Kladno. In 1920, he joined the local club SK Kročehlavy, at 16 years he played regularly for the first men's team. The then leading Czechoslovak football clubs were quickly aware of the defender.

At 18, he got an offer from Viktoria Zizkov, but refused. Shortly thereafter, Slavia Prague Burgr tried to commit. Since the officials Slavia's the young defender could offer nothing for a change, said Burgr from again. Only Sparta Prague offered 1926 2000 crowns and Burgr joined the club.

Sparta Prague was at that time a well-established defensive trio bestehendend from Antonín Hojer, Antonín Perner and Karel Steiner. Burgr first played for the reserve team. His big moment came in 1927 Mitropacup final against Rapid Vienna, after Antonín Hojer had recently damaged. Burgr offered a good performance and belonged then to the starting eleven Sparta. Two years later, he was team captain and made his debut in the Czechoslovak national team. Even in the national selection Burgr was a fixed size. He participated in the World Cup in Italy in 1934 participate in the Czechoslovakia vice world champion, and also played in the World Cup 1938 in France. Overall Burgr wore the jersey 57 times Czechoslovakia, nine times he led the team as captain on the pitch.

For Sparta Burgr played 625 games, 13 years, he was captain of the team. In 1946 he moved to SK must, where he finished his career in 1950. He had his last appearance at age 44 in a friendly match against Sparta Prague Most of the SK.

With Sparta Prague Burgr won in 1927, 1932, 1936, 1938, 1939 and 1944, the national championship. 1927 and 1935 he won the Mitropa Cup with his club.

Burgr was as uncompromising, tough but fair at the same defender. After his playing career, he returned to his learned profession butcher.
