Jaroslav Holík

Jaroslav Holik ( born August 3, 1942 in Havlíčkův Brod, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia ) is a former ice hockey player who has completed for Dukla Jihlava over 600 games in the Czechoslovak Extraliga and over 140 games in the jersey of the Czechoslovakian national team.

Career

Jaroslav Holik began his career in 1956 in his hometown at Jiskra Havlíčkův Brod. In 1961 he moved for his military service to the army club Dukla Jihlava, where he remained faithful to 1979 and where he ended his career. With Jihlava, he won seven league titles ( 1967-72 and 1974 ) and scored 267 goals in 602 league games. In addition, he took with him several times at the Jihlava Spengler Cup and won this in 1966, 1967, 1969, 1979 and 1983.

From 1964 he participated in international championships for his country. He won a gold, two silver and three bronze medals in seven appearances at the World Championships. Another highlight of his career was the participation in the Olympic Winter Games in 1972, where he won the bronze medal. In 142 internationals Holik scored 75 goals for Czechoslovakia.

After retiring as a player Holik worked as a coach and led the Czech Under-20 national team to two World Cup titles (2000 and 2001).

Jaroslav Holik comes from a hockey mad family. Next to him, his father and his brother Robert Holik Jiri Holik played successfully Hockey.
