Järvakandi

Järvakandi ( German Jerwakand ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian county Rapla with an area of 4.83 km ². It has 1471 inhabitants (1 January 2007). The municipality is situated approximately 29 km from Rapla away.

The village was first mentioned as Jerwencato 1460. The grand two-story manor house was built in 1820. It belonged to the Baltic German noble family Hoyningen -Huene. From 1894 lived here Oskar von Hoyningen -Huene with Sophie Charlotte of Wimpffen and their son from his first marriage, Roman von Ungern -Sternberg

After the Russian Revolution in 1905 the estate was completely destroyed. Järvakandi is known for its glass factory, founded in 1879.
