Jastrabie pri Michalovciach

Jastrabie pri Michalovciach (Slovak 1927-1960 " Jastrabie " - to 1927 " Jastrebie "; Hungarian Alsókánya - to 1907 Jesztreb ) is a city and a municipality in Michalovce Okres ( Košice kraj ) in the far eastern Slovakia, with 294 inhabitants (as at 31 December. , 2011).

Geography

The place is located in the East Slovak Lowland, 12 km from Michalovce.

The name is the longest place name in Slovakia, with 25 characters with no spaces ( in Slovak, however, 23 because the "ch" counts as a letter).

History

Jastrabie was first mentioned in writing in 1448 and belonged to the nobility of Great Michel. Although in the 15th century, it was a medium-sized village, leaving in the next few centuries, the inhabitants of the village, so in 1715 the settlement was no more. In 1720, the town was repopulated. 1828 was counted 51 houses and 408 inhabitants. As in the past, today Jastrabie is predominantly an agricultural village.
