Jasurbek Latipov

Jasurbek Latipov ( born September 15, 1991) is an Uzbek amateur boxer in the flyweight.

Boxing career

He was on the national level in 2008 Uzbek youth champion in the light flyweight and 2009 Uzbek champion in the light flyweight. In the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou in November 2010, he was defeated in the second round of the three -time world champion and two-time Olympic champion Zhou Shiming of China.

His biggest success so far was winning a bronze medal in the flyweight, at the 16th World Championships 2011 in Baku. He had it prevailed in the preliminary rounds against Samir Brahimi of Algeria 17:4 and 21:7 Ivan Figurenko from Belarus and moved into the second round, where he defeated the Swedes Solomon N'tuve 10:7. In the subsequent quarter-finals he won against Italian Vincenzo Picardi 18:11, but lost in the semifinals Andrew Selby of Wales 15:21.

He qualified automatically for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Previously, he still won the 39th Chemistry Cup in Halle Germany. In the flyweight starting, he had thereby Ronny Beblik from Germany ( 17:14 ), Nordine Oubaali beaten from France ( 15:11 ) and Pürewdordschiin Serdamba from Mongolia ( 12:8 ). At the Olympic Games in London, he defeated the Egyptian Hesham Abdel Aal 21:11, but then lost to eventual silver medalist Njambajaryn Tögstsogt from Mongolia 10:15.

At the World Championships in October 2013 in Almaty, he won the silver medal in the bantamweight. Through victories against Hamza Touba from Germany, Narek Abgarijan from Armenia, Paddy Barnes from Ireland and Andrew Selby of Wales, he reached the finals where he was defeated by Russians Mikhail Alojan almost 2:1 vote.
