Jaume Duch Guillot

Jaume Duch Guillot ( born February 1962 in Barcelona, Spain) is the spokesman of the European Parliament. He held this position since July 2006, initially on an interim basis, and permanently since July 2008.

Function

As spokesperson for the European Parliament Duch Guillot answer particular questions of accredited journalists in Brussels to work and the positions of the Parliament and institutional issues. His responsibilities include regular press briefing before the plenary sessions and the support of the President of Parliament at press conferences.

Duch Guillot is also Director of the media within the Directorate-General for Communication of the Parliament's administration to the press service, the Department of online communication, audiovisual services and the WebTV offer " Europarl " belong.

Biographical information

Prior to his current position Duch Guillot was Head of Press and Public Relations (1999-2006) of the European Parliament and worked as a consultant on the staff of then- Parliament President José -Maria Gil- Robles ( 1997-1999).

He began his career as an EU official in Parliament in 1990. Previously, he had worked for three years as an assistant to an MEP ( 1987-1989). In addition, he was a lecturer in International Law and European Law at the University of Barcelona (1986-1990), where he also obtained his law degree.

Duch Guillot speaks Spanish, Catalan, French, English and Italian. He is married, has three children and lives in Brussels. He is (co - ) author of several publications that deal with communication and the EU.
