Jaume Ferran i Clua

Jaume Ferran i Clua ( born 1 February 1851 in Corbera d' Ebre, Tarragona, † November 22, 1929 in Barcelona) was a Spanish physician and bacteriologist.

The son of a village doctor completed his school education in Tarragona and his medical degree at the University of Barcelona. 1884 awarded the Real Academia de Medicina his memorandum Memoria sobre el parasitismo bacteriano and Stadtberwaltung Barcelona sent him to study the cholera epidemic in Marseilles. 1885 Ferran led to the epidemic in Valencia mass vaccinations. Among the contemporaries of his approach was controversial at first, but later sat by the view that its action despite some initial problems with the live vaccine should be considered a positive pioneering.
