Javed Miandad

Mohammad Javed Miandad Khan ( born June 12, 1957 in Karachi), better known as Javed Miandad is a former Pakistani cricketer. In 34 Tests and 62 One Day International matches ( ODIs ), he was captain of the Pakistani cricket team.

Career

Javed Miandad attended during his career total of 124 tests for the Pakistani national team, where he scored a total of 8832 runs or 52.57 runs per wicket. This makes it next to Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan is one of only three Pakistani batsmen who have achieved at least 50 runs per wicket in tests.

On his Test debut in 1976 against New Zealand in Lahore, he scored 163 runs. In the same test series Miandad scored 206 runs in Karachi. At this time he was 19 years and 140 days old. Javed Miandad is thus still the youngest player to score at least 200 runs in a test. His last Test for Pakistan he graduated in December 1993 against the team from Zimbabwe.

During his career, Javed Miandad also participated for the Pakistani team in 233 ODIs, where he reached a total of 7381, or 41.70 runs per wicket. As legendary applies his performance in the final of the Australasia Cup in 1986 against India. Pakistan needed four runs and had only one ball available. Miandad scored a Sixer and Pakistan won the tournament. He is still next to Fawad Alam, Zaheer Abbas and Mohammad Yousuf one of only four Pakistani players who on average have at least 40 runs per wicket in ODIs.

Javed Miandad took with Pakistani Cricket Team at six world championships (1975, 1979, 1983, 1987, 1992 and 1996) in part. In 33 World Cup matches, he scored a total of 1083 runs ( 43.32 runs per wicket ). Three times he reached with his team the semi-finals (1979, 1983 and 1987). In 1992, Javed Miandad win with his team's first and to date only title for Pakistan.

Others

Javed Miandad in 1982 was voted one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. In 2009, he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
