Javier GarcÃa (athlete)
Javier García Chico ( born July 22, 1966 in Barcelona ) is a retired Spanish pole vaulter. At a height of 1.77 m his competition weight was 71 kg.
Javier García failed in the 1988 Olympics in qualifying. At the European Championships in 1990, he finished with 5.70 meters of space 5 and was thus even a place Serhiy Bubka before.
At the 1992 Olympics in his home city of Barcelona García grew beyond itself. He equaled his personal best of 5.75 meters and height was equal before the Americans Kory Tarpenning Olympia third parties.
At the Olympic Games in 1996 García failed as in 1988 in the qualifying.
García also started regularly in the hall, at World Indoor Championships he won four times between 1989 and 1997 ranked among the top eight. In European Indoor Championships he finished sixth (1990) and Fifth (1998). His Hallenbestleistung of 5.77 meters in 1992 meant Spanish record.
