Jay Pritzker

Jay A. Pritzker ( born August 26, 1922 in Chicago, † 23 January 1999) was an American entrepreneur.

Life

The son of Abram Nicholas Pritzker was trained as a lawyer, but soon rose to a family Marmon Group, which he thoroughly restructured, and was active along with his brothers Robert and Donald Pritzker in various industries. In 1957 he founded the Hyatt hotel chain from 1983 to 1988 he was the owner of Braniff Airlines.

In 1979, he called together with his wife Cindy, endowed with $ 100,000 Pritzker Architecture Prize for architects to life.

Frank Gehry, who was also one of the winners, created in 2004, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park in Chicago, will be listed in the open-air concerts.
