Jean Baptiste Christophore Fusée Aublet

Jean Baptiste Christophe Fusée Aublet (* November 4, 1720 in Salon- de -Provence, † May 6, 1778 in Paris) was a French botanist and pharmacist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Aubl. ".

Aublet concurred with the French East India Company and in 1752 was sent to Mauritius to establish there a pharmacy and a botanical garden. He worked there for nine years.

In 1762 he was sent to Cayenne in French Guiana. There he assembled a large herbarium, which served as the basis of his 1775 published work Histoire des plantes de la française Guiane with almost 400 copper plates.

As Aublet died in Paris in 1778, he bequeathed his herbarium to Jean -Jacques Rousseau, but of himself died three months later. 1953, the herbarium in the possession of the Muséum national d' histoire naturelle over.

The plant genera Aubletia Gaertn. Aubletella and Pierre have been named after Aublet.
