Jean-Baptiste de Latil

Jean -Baptiste Marie Anne Antoine de Latil ( born March 6, 1761 Sainte -Marguerite, † December 1, 1839 in Reims ) was cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Jean -Baptiste de Latil received priestly ordination in 1784. Pope Pius VII appointed him on 8 March 1816 Titular Bishop of Amyclae. He received his episcopal consecration François de Pierre de Bernis, archbishop of Albi, on April 7 of the same year; Co-consecrators were Jean -Baptiste du Chilleau, Bishop of Chalons -sur -Saône and Jean -Charles de Coucy, Bishop of La Rochelle.

On August 8, 1817, he was named Pius VII, bishop of Chartres. The official launch took place on 1 October 1817. On April 26, 1824 he was appointed Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Reims, which he headed from July 12, 1824.

In the 5th consistory under Pope Leo XII. on 13 March 1826, he was appointed cardinal in the rank of cardinal priest with the titular church of San Sisto (St. Sixtus ) in Rome. He participated in the conclave of 1829; there Cardinal Francesco Saverio Castiglioni Maria Felice was elected Pope Pius VIII, who passed away but already on 30 November 1830.
