Jean-Denis Bredin

Jean -Denis Bredin ( born May 17, 1929 in Paris ) is a French lawyer and writer.

Bredin studied law and successfully complete this study in 1957 with a doctorate. Already during his studies, he tried his hand at literary texts, which then over the years, an increasing and more important focus in addition to his legal work were.

Bredin 1951 was inducted into the Conférence du Stage and also worked for a time as its executive secretary. In 1967 he accepted a position at the University of Lille. As a partisan of Edgar Faure, he supported these from May 68 For its reform efforts. In 1969, Bredin at the Sorbonne in Paris and remained there until his retirement in 1993. As such, he served between 1982 and 1986 as a senior board of the Bibliothèque nationale de France.

As the successor to the writer Marguerite Yourcenar, he was accepted on 15 June 1989, the Académie française ( fauteuil 3).
