Jean-Eudes Dubé

Jean -Eudes Dubé PC QC ( born June 6, 1926 in La Matapédia, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian lawyer and politician of the Liberal Party.

Life

After schooling Dubé holds a degree in philosophy and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA ) and a Bachelor ( B.Ph. ) and Licentiate ( L.Ph. ) into philosophy. A subsequent post-graduate studies in law, he not only ended with a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL ) and a Bachelor of Laws ( LL.D. ), but also with a Doctor of Laws ( LL.D. ). After that he worked as a lawyer and barrister.

Dubé was a member of the City Council of Campbellton first in local politics and worked from 1959 to 1963. After he suffered a defeat at a by-election in May 1961, he began his federal political career as a candidate of the Liberal Party in the elections of 18 June 1962 he was elected as a member of the lower house in the constituency Restigouche - Madawaska and this until his mandate waiver had heard on April 8, 1975, where he last represented the electoral district of Restigouche since the general election of 25 June 1968. During his membership in parliament he was from January 1966 to April 1968 Chairman of the Standing House of Commons Committee on Foreign Affairs.

In July 1968, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau appointed him as Minister of Veterans Affairs in the 20th Federal Cabinet appointed. After a cabinet reshuffle, he was then from January 1972 to August 1974 Minister of Public Works and at the same time in September 1972 Acting for a few days Minister of National Defence.

After retiring from the House of Commons he was a judge at the 1975 Federal Court of Canada in April.
