Jean-Marie Dedecker

Jean -Marie Dedecker ( born June 13, 1952 in Nieuwpoort ) is a Belgian politician.

Life

After leaving school, Dedecker was a judo coach in Belgium. The late 1990s Dedecker began to become politically active. 1999 and 2003 Dedecker succeeded each of the catchment as a Senator in the Senate of Belgium. 2004 moved Dedecker as an MP in the Flemish parliament. Dedecker belonged from 1999 to 2007 the party Open Vlaamse en Democraten Liberals (VLD ) on.

2006 failed Dedecker in the mayoral elections in Ostend against Johan Vande Lanotte of the Socialist Party Anders. After the local elections in Ostend arose between Dedecker and the leadership of the VLD under Bart Somers to the conflict and in January 2007, Dedecker was officially expelled from the VLD.

In the short term belonged Dedecker at the end of 2006 the Nieuw- Vlaamse Alliantie. However, since their cartel partner, the Flemish Christian Democrats did not want him to tolerate the common election list, he left the N -VA again.

Then Dedecker founded on 19 January 2007, the right-wing liberal party Lijst Dedecker. At the federal parliamentary elections in 2007, it reached five parliamentary seats in Parliament and a seat in the Senate.
