Johan Vande Lanotte

Johan Vande Lanotte Cyrille Corneel ( born July 6, 1955 in Poperinge ) is a Belgian politician for the Socialist Party Other ( sp.a ). Since December 6, 2011, he is Minister of Economic Affairs in the government Di Rupo.

Life

Vande Lanotte grew up in Stavele on (now a part of community Alveringem ). In 1974 he went to the University of Antwerp, where in 1978 his degree was in Political and Social Sciences, and then moved to the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, which he left in 1981 with a master's in law. In 1986 he received his doctorate in the same subject at the University of Ghent and was honored for his work with the price of the Belgian Institute of Administrative Sciences.

Vande Lanotte 1988 was appointed Head of Cabinet of the then Interior Minister Louis Tobback. In 1991 he was elected as people's representatives in the Chamber of Deputies, where he assumed the office of chairman of the parliamentary committee on human trafficking. In 1994 he followed Tobback by the Office of the Minister of the Interior. When Marc Dutroux in April 1998 managed to escape, Vande Lanotte resigned his ministerial post. Instead, he took over the management of the election campaign of the SP with regard to the elections in June 1999.

Vande Lanotte 1999 was appointed Minister for the Budget, Social Integration and Social Economy. In 2003 he assumed the post of Minister for the Budget, community facilities and the North Sea. From 2005 to 2007 he was chairman of the Sp.A.

Vande Lanotte 2006 was awarded the honorary title of Minister of State.

On 21 October 2010 Johan Vande Lanotte was commissioned by King Albert II to continue the formation of a government after neither succeeded Bart De Wever of the N -VA nor Elio Di Rupo from the PS, after the elections of 13 June 2010, capable of action establish government. After it was Vande Lanotte not been able to push forward negotiations on reform of the state, on 26 January 2011 established that his mandate. Only on 6 December 2011, a new Belgian government was sworn in, Johan Vande Lanotte was in the Cabinet of Deputy Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo and Minister for industry, consumers and the North Sea.
