Jean-Michel Couve

Jean -Michel Couve (born 3 January 1940 in Le Muy ) is a French politician. He is the National Assembly since 1986 deputy.

Couve went to Cannes to school and studied medicine in Marseille. From 1971 he worked in Saint- Tropez as a cardiologist. In 1977 he moved there in the City Council and was elected mayor in 1983. When that he was voted out in 1989, but re-elected in 1993 and retained the office until 2008. Having just previously abandoned his post at the local hospital, he moved in 1986 for the Gaullists in the National Assembly. From 1992 to 2001 he was parallel to his deputy mandate Member of the General Council in the Var department and dealt in particular with tourism matters. As a Member of the National Assembly, he was re-elected several times. In 2002, he joined the newly formed party, the UMP. Couve counted end of November 2012 to around 70 MPs who seceded with their leader François Fillon of the UMP group in parliament and its own group founded under the name R- UMP.
