Jean Pierre Étienne Vaucher

Jean -Pierre Étienne Vaucher (* April 27, 1763 in Geneva, † January 5, 1841 ) was a Swiss theologian and botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Vaucher ".

Life

After studying theology, he was ordained in 1787 and was then pastor. In addition to his profession he was also involved in botany. He later received a reputation as a professor of church history at the University of Geneva, next he was Honorary Professor of Botany and Plant Physiology.

His scientific work in botany is, inter alia, that he first planned studied the evolution of the algae.
